Understanding the Technology
3D ultrasound is an advanced form of sonography that goes beyond traditional two-dimensional imaging. While a standard 2D ultrasound produces flat, slice-like images, 3D ultrasound captures volume data from multiple angles. This data is then reconstructed into a realistic three-dimensional image of the fetus.

Ideal Timing
While 3D ultrasound can be performed throughout, the optimal window is between 24 and 32 weeks. This is when facial features are most defined and the baby has sufficient fat beneath the skin for the clearest visuals.
